Cloud-based services app for Casio scientific calculators

The CASIO EDU+ app allows you to access additional functions not available on ClassWiz from a smartphone, by scanning the relevant QR Code from ClassWiz. Features include Draw Graph/Formula (Online Visualization), Share Graph/Formula (Online Sharing) and Search Method (Online Manual).
The app also tunes the QR Code scanning algorithm to improve the accuracy when used with ClassWiz.

Realizing student participation

Use Class* Online Sharing to combine and compare scanned graphs and calculation results on a single screen, for example, during group work or when discussing results.

Easy review with the history feature

The history feature stores all scanned QR Codes. This allows you to display and review previous graphs and formulas after the data has been cleared from the calculator.

How to use CASIO EDU+

The screenshots below depict CASIO EDU+ on an iOS device.

1.Scan a QR Code from ClassWiz

Display a graph by scanning the QR Code from ClassWiz (Online Visualization)

Example: Display a scatter plots in Statistics mode


In ClassWiz
Enter Statistics mode
Choose y=a+bx
Enter statistical data, then press [SHIFT] followed by [OPTN]
The QR Code is displayed
In CASIO EDU+
Tap the CASIO EDU+ icon to launch the app
Select [QR Code]
Scan the QR Code from ClassWiz

Tap “Open in Safari” (in Android, “Open in Browser”) to display the graph


Display manual by scanning calculator QR Code (Online Manual)

Example: Display Statistics mode manual


In ClassWiz
Select Statistics mode then press [SHIFT] followed by [OPTN]
The QR Code is displayed

In CASIO EDU+
Select [QR Code]
Scan the QR Code from ClassWiz

Tap “Open in Safari” (in Android, “Open in Browser”) to display the manual


Note: The first you time you access the manual, the Terms of Use will appear. You will need to read through and consent to the Terms of Use before the manual is displayed.


Scan multiple QR Codes

Multiple QR Codes can be scanned in sequence as described in the guide displayed in CASIO EDU+.
The bottom right corner of ClassWiz shows the current / total number of QR Codes
Scan the first QR Code in CASIO EDU+, then press thekey in ClassWiz.
ClassWiz displays the next QR Code in the sequence.
Scan the new QR Code. Repeat until all QR Codes have been scanned.

2.Class and Online Sharing

A Class is a page that can be used to view and manage graphs and tables from QR Codes scanned into CASIO EDU+. Class can be created in CASIO EDU+.
By comparing or combining multiple sets of data with Class, it is possible to display the students’ exercises on a screen or display and compare the results of group work.

Set up a new Class and add ClassWiz data

Select [QR Code]
Scan the QR Code from ClassWiz
Tap "Share with a Class"
Tap the + symbol in the top right to create a new Class
Enter the Class name and a description, then tap "Create"
Specify a nickname to identify the scanned QR Code data on the Class page, then tap "Share" to display the data and nickname

Note:
A "Class" is automatically deleted if it is not accessed for 1 year.
Each Class can hold a maximum of 50 data sets.


Add calculator data to an existing Class

Select "QR Code"
Scan the QR Code from ClassWiz
Tap "Share with a Class"
Select the Class to add data to
Specify a nickname to identify the scanned QR Code data on the Class page, then tap "Share" to display the data and nickname

View Class details

This screen displays Class details such as Class name, Class number and Class description. It is also used to add ClassWiz QR Codes to the Class, display the Class in a browser, and send an email with the web address (URL) of the Class.

Display Class in browser

[Method 1] Launch browser from app

Tap "Open in Safari" on the Class screen to switch directly to selected browser and display the Class.
(*On Android devices, tap "Open in Browser")

Tap "Open in Safari" to launch Safari
(On Android devices, tap "Open in Browser")

[Method 2] Enter Class URL

Enter the Class number in the address (URL) field of your browser to display the Class.
You can confirm the Class number from the Class details screen.

[Method 3] Set up and display a new Class on a computer browser

Set up a new Class using the following "Creating a Class" button on a standard browser in Windows or equivalent.


To send ClassWiz data to the newly created Class, you must first use one of the following methods to enter Class details in CASIO EDU+.


・Click the QR Code icon on the Class page of the browser, then scan the displayed QR Code.

Tap "Scan Class QR Code"
*The screen displayed on a computer browser
Tap the QR Code icon, then scan the QR Code
Tap "Save Class" after the QR Code
has been successfully scanned

・Enter the Class number for the newly created Class

Tap "Enter Class Number"
Enter Class number and tap "Done"

3. View and modify history


Results scanned into CASIO EDU+ are stored in the app history.
Graphs and formulas can be retrieved from the cloud after the data has been cleared from the calculator.


View previous QR Codes in history

Select "History"
Previously scanned results are listed

Edit history

You can change the title, add stars and delete items on the Edit History screen.
Tap theicon of the item to be modified

System requirements

  • Scannable QR Code
    CASIO EDU+ can scan QR Code from ClassWiz only.
  • Contrast Setting
    If QR Codes do not scan properly, try reducing contrast as described inthe User's Guide.
  • Auto Focus
    Read with a model that has a built-in Auto Focus function.
    Reading the Ver.11 QR Code will not be possible without the Auto Focus.
  • Video image performance
    Read with a device that has a video image performance of more than 720p.
    Tested to operate on the following devices: 720p/1080p.
  • Distance
    Read with an 8 to 10 cm distance between the camera and the QR Display Screen.

    If reading is not possible, move the device up and down and try changing the distance within the parameter of 7 to 15 cm.
  • Angle
    Do not tilt the angle (α) of the reading device and the QR Display Screen to more than 15º.

    Basically keep α at 0º; however, if reading is not possible, try changing α within the ranges of 0 to 15º.
  • Intensity of illumination
    Read where there is enough light (more than 200lx).
    Reading of the QR Code may not be possible if dark.
  • Reflected glare of light
    Read upon being careful of the surrounding environment so that light is not reflected on the QR Code.

    Reading the QR Code may not be possible if light is reflected.
